FOOD TRAIN, 2014 Video 1.59 min © Daniel Göttin | The short video shows a man sitting alone on a stool in a kaiten sushi bar. The sushi train runs permanently packed with a load of different sushi plates side by side. A second train track runs parallel – but this one is empty. Every now and then a hand pushes and adds some sushi plates into the row of plates. The man sits quietly there, seems to have alot of time enjoying the food. He looks to the side, but nothing happens. Maybe he waits for somebody. Nobody comes. After a while he picks sushi with the chop sticks from the plate, and eats it. The small mirror opposite reflects parts of his face, shows him eating sushi. Then he puts back the chop sticks, and again looks around. Nothing else happens, except both sushi trains run constantly.
This small section view shows a moment of life in real time, could be anywhere at anytime. It shows an almost intimate daily instant from a distance without disturbing the situation. This moment could last forever, as the food trains are running and running.
